Filho de músicos, começou a tocar bateria com seu pai, aos 10 anos de idade. Em 1943, mudou-se para a cidade de Usina Junqueira (SP), onde fez parte da banda e da orquestra da cidade. No ano seguinte, tornou-se clarinetista e saxofonista. Em 1945, trabalhou, ainda com o pai, em circos montados em São Paulo.

Em 1946, foi contratado como integrante da Orquestra do Maestro Francisco Dorce, que se apresentava na Rádio Tupi, permanecendo nesta função até 1950. Nessa época, estudou instrumentação com o clarinetista Antenor Driussi durante 3 anos.
Em 1950, fez parte do Conjunto do Betinho, na Rádio Excelsior, apresentando-se à noite com a orquestra de seu irmão Clóvis Eli. Estudou harmonia com o maestro Hans Joachim Koellreutter, durante dois anos.
Em 1953, fez uma turnê pela Europa. Retornou ao Brasil no ano seguinte e se reintegrou ao Conjunto do Betinho, com quem tocou durante seis meses. Morou em Assis (SP) entre 1954 e 1956. De volta a São Paulo, trabalhou em diversas orquestras. Nessa época, gravou pela primeira vez, como integrante da Orquestra de Dick Farney, no LP "I Festival de Jazz", lançado pela RGE.
Em 1957, participou de várias gravações na Columbia, levado por Roberto Corte Real. Atuou em shows e gravações com a Orquestra de Silvio Mazzuca, de 1958 a 1961, quando formou, com os irmãos Amilton e Adilson Godói, Denise Dumont, Bill e Magrinho, o Casé e seu Conjunto. Com a dissolução do grupo em 1966, mudou-se para Poços de Caldas (MG), onde trabalhou na Orquestra do Palace Hotel. Voltou para São Paulo no ano seguinte e trabalhou com o Jongo Trio, excursionando com o grupo em shows pela Europa, Argentina e Uruguai. De volta ao Brasil, fixou-se em São José do Rio Preto (SP) durante quatro anos, fazendo parte do Conjunto de Renato Peres. Em 1975, mudou-se para São Paulo, onde trabalhou com diversos conjuntos. Faleceu três anos depois.

Son of musicians, he started playing drums with his father, when he was 10 years old. In 1943, he moved to the city of Usina Junqueira (SP), where he was part of the band and the orchestra of the city. The following year, he became a clarinetist and saxophonist. In 1945, he worked with his father in circuses assembled in São Paulo.

In 1946, he was hired as a member of the Orchestra of Maestro Francisco Dorce, who performed at Radio Tupi, remaining in this position until 1950. At that time, he studied instrumentation with clarinettist Antenor Driussi for 3 years.

In 1950, he was part of the Betinho Ensemble, on Radio Excelsior, performing at night with the orchestra of his brother Clóvis Eli. He studied harmony with maestro Hans Joachim Koellreutter for two years.

In 1953, he toured Europe. He returned to Brazil the following year and returned to the Conjunto do Betinho, with whom he played for six months. He lived in Assis (SP) between 1954 and 1956. Back in São Paulo, he worked in several orchestras. At that time, he recorded for the first time, as a member of Dick Farney's Orchestra, the LP "I Jazz Festival", released by RGE.

In 1957, he participated in several recordings at Columbia, led by Roberto Corte Real. He performed in concerts and recordings with the Orchestra of Silvio Mazzuca, from 1958 to 1961, when he formed, with the brothers Amilton and Adilson Godói, Denise Dumont, Bill and Magrinho, Casé and his Ensemble. With the dissolution of the group in 1966, he moved to Poços de Caldas (MG), where he worked at the Orquestra do Palace Hotel. He returned to São Paulo the following year and worked with Jongo Trio, touring with the group in shows throughout Europe, Argentina and Uruguay. Back in Brazil, he settled in São José do Rio Preto (SP) for four years, being part of the Renato Peres Ensemble. In 1975, he moved to São Paulo, where he worked with several groups. He passed away three years later.
